WHAT: Board of education reorganizational and regular meeting Wednesday
PRESENT: Mark Bodo, Tim Gleason, Cheryl Basista, Sam Caputo and Joshua Garris
The board:
• Appointed Garris board president and Caputo vice president for 2024.
• Appointed Basista as delegate to the 2024 Ohio School Board Association (OSBA) annual conference; Gleason as an alternate to the conference; Garris as legislative liaison to the OSBA; Caputo as student achievement liaison to the OSBA; Bodo as liaison to Weathersfield trustees; and Garris as the alternate liaison to the trustees.
• Approved the Tribune Chronicle as the designated newspaper of the district for 2024.
• Approved a resolution authorizing Superintendent Damon Dohar to hire staff between board meetings.
• Approved a resolution to participate in the OSBA legal assistance fund and authorized treasurer Steve Haynie to pay the fund $250.
• Approved the Trumbull County Educational Service Center substitute teacher list as well as any corrections or deletions that may occur throughout the year.
• Approved a motion stating individuals requesting copies of meeting schedules, agendas, notices or any nonagenda information will be charged 25 cents per copy.
• Approved Kim Rouan and Shellie Siroki as designees of public records for the board for 2024.
• Approved Aiden McDanel and Fiona Loudon as substitute teachers for the 2023-24 school year.
• Approved supplemental contracts for various coaches in the athletic department.
• Accepted a donation of $4,000 from the Mineral Ridge Band Boosters to the band account.
