HOWLAND -- Trustee Frank J. Dillon was sworn into office during Wednesday's board of trustees meeting.
Along with the swearing in of Dillon, Matthew Vansuch was appointed to the position of board chairman and James LaPolla Jr. as vice chairman.
Dillon replaced previous trustee chair Rick Clark, who did not run for reelection.
"First of all I want to congratulate Tom (Krispinsky) and Frank on their win," said Township Administrator Darlene St. George. "Welcome to the team. It's a puzzle, and we've put it together, but there's one person missing."
St. George further reminded the board of her retirement, effective March 31, as she provided the members with a packet including a job description for the position.
"It's just time," St. George said. "I'm excited for it. The township's in great financial shape. And all of the department heads are doing well, so everything is good."
Vansuch planned a special meeting for Jan. 18 to begin the soliciting process for hiring a replacement for St. George.
Howland Township Fiscal Officer Tom Krispinsky resumed his role as the township's finance manager after winning his seat during the Nov. 7 General Election.
All reorganizational agenda items for the new year passed.
In addition, the township hired Caden Minor, of Lordstown, as a part-time firefighter at a rate of $16 per hour, effective Jan. 16. Anthony Fairbanks was also hired as part-time instructor for the Howland Township Training Center, through Fire Chief James Pantalone, effective Jan. 16.
Bill Beinecke was appointed to the zoning board of appeals as an alternate member, effective Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2025.
The township approved a recommendation to raise Howland Township Cemetery rates, for fees only with no policy changes, effective March 1. The last increase was in 2012.
