WARREN — A Warren man pleaded guilty to an amended indictment Tuesday charging him with first-degree involuntary manslaughter in connection to the shooting death of 43-year-old Ruby Sanchez in March.

Jamarr Jenkins, 20, of Kenmore Avenue SE, pleaded guilty as part of an agreement negotiated between his attorney, Lynn Maro, and Trumbull County Assistant Prosecutor Gina Buccino Thomas that reduced a charge of aggravated murder down to involuntary manslaughter with firearm specifications. He also pleaded guilty to charges of second-degree felonious assault and third-degree endangering children.

A sentencing hearing will occur before Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Andrew D. Logan after a presentence investigation is completed.

Jenkins faces up to 25 to 30 years in prison, which includes three years for a using a firearm in the commission of a crime, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Buccino Thomas explained that if Jenkins went to trial, the prosecution would have proven that Jenkins and a co-defendant shot into a vehicle containing Ruby Sanchez and her son, Noel Flores, which resulted in the death of Sanchez later that evening.

Regarding the charge of endangering, the prosecution said Jenkins was at home with a 2-year-old child when the child shot himself. The firearm recovered from the incident was matched by police to the gun used in the shooting of Sanchez, the prosecutor said.

In December, Flores was indicted and pleaded not guilty in common pleas court to an indictment charging him in the murder of 26-year-old Ashante Fisher-Kirksey, a mother of four, in her Francis Avenue SE, Warren, residence on Nov. 11.
