CORTLAND -- Mayor Deidre Petrosky was absent from the first city council meeting of the year Tuesday as nominations were accepted for council positions.
With Petrosky absent, Law Director Patrick Wilson opened nominations, as temporary chairperson, for the reappointment of council President Kevin Piros.
Don Moore was also nominated and reappointed to vice president as all legislation was passed.
Council members Jim Bradley, John Picuri and Scott Rowley were sworn in as reelected members, with terms ending Dec. 31, 2027.
Council also announced dates where their meetings would be moved in order to recognize national holidays. Due to Martin Luther King Jr. Day being Jan. 15th, council will meet Jan. 16. Council will meet again Feb. 20, due to Presidents' Day being celebrated Feb. 19. Lastly, council will meet Sept. 3 because of Labor Day taking place Sept. 2.
