CHAMPION -- Champion Christian Church has welcomed a new pastor, the Rev. Julie Western, who was installed at a special service earlier this month.
Western said she looks forward to her new position at the church.
The Rev. Allen Harris, regional pastor and president of the Christian Church in Ohio, and the Rev. Cynthia Klingemier, regional elder for District 4, led the installation.
Western, a native of Oregon, received her bachelor's degree in speech communications and later her master's of divinity at Memphis Theological Seminary in Memphis.
She was ordained in January 2004 and has served the church in partnership for a time with the United Church of Christ.
Western said she grew up in a Disciple of Christ family as her father was also a Disciple of Christ minister.
With 22 years in ministry, Western said it has been a long transition for her with a 17-hour move to Ohio into a new environment.
Western said she and her husband of 30 years have three adult children and four grandchildren.
"I am looking forward to my time in the Ohio Region and for the opportunities that lay ahead for me as I continue along this journey in life of growing in God and learning to love," Western said.
