WARREN -- A Warren man will serve at least five years in prison for his role in a July shooting.
Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Sean O'Brien sentenced Anthony Butler, 25, to serve five to six years for a single count of felonious assault with a gun specification. His sentence includes the mandatory three years for the gun specification charge.
Butler, of South Feederle Drive SE, was convicted in a July drive-by shooting in the 700 block of Clay Street in Niles. He was one of three others, including Brandy Bajwa, 24, and Dontavious T. Wallace, 25, that were reportedly involved in the incident.
According to court records, Wallace pleaded guilty to charges of felonious assault and tampering with evidence Nov. 21 and was sentenced to serve three years in prison. Bajwa pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of assault and was given 180 days in jail, one year of probation and a $1,000 fine, court records show.
Butler surrendered to police June 23.
A police report states someone drove by the Clay Street home in a silver Volkswagen and fired shots into the residence at 7:45 p.m. No one was injured, but police found several shell casings on the street, after 14 shots were fired, according to police reports.
Niles police checked the city's Flock license plate reading camera system and located a 2019 silver Volkswagen Passat that entered and then left the city on state Route 169.
Warren police later located the vehicle at a home in the 2000 block of Ada Avenue.
