WARREN -- A special grand jury report fast-tracked the arraignment of Noel Flores in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court on Thursday.

Appearing before Judge Ronald J. Rice, Flores, 20, pleaded not guilty to an indictment charging him in the murder of 26-year-old Ashante Fisher-Kirksey.

His bond was revoked as he appeared next to public defender Heather Ninni, serving as the acting defense attorney. Rice said Flores poses a "serious substantial risk of serious physical harm to anyone in the community."

Ninni alerted the court that her office has a conflict of interest, informing Rice that a member of their office is a relative of Fisher-Kirksey.

The next court appearance has yet to be determined as the case will be moved to the courtroom of Judge Andrew D. Logan.

Flores was indicted after two days of grand jury hearings led to charges of murder, second-degree improper discharge of a firearm and three counts of second-degree possession of a firearm in a liquor permit premises.

The first two charges listed carry firearm specifications.

On the night of the murder, Fisher-Kirksey's boyfriend phoned 911, reporting that his girlfriend had been shot in the neck after she was followed into her Francis Avenue SE residence by at least one gunman around 2 a.m. Nov. 11.

Flores was recently booked into Trumbull County jail following extradition from St. Petersburg, Florida where U.S. Marshals tracked him to an apartment. Flores was found with a 9-mm firearm which is the same caliber used in Fisher-Kirksey's death, according to the Marshal's task force.
