WARREN -- One of four co-defendants involved in the burglary of a mobile home in Warren Township was sentenced in common pleas court Thursday.
JaJuan Martin, 28, of Douglas Street NW, Warren, pleaded guilty to a felony burglary charge in mid-November but was sentenced by Judge Ronald Rice Thursday to five years probation.
As part of the terms of probation, Martin will have to go to NEOCAP, which is a community base corrections facility that is dedicated to reducing an offenders likelihood to commit another offense, according to its website. Martin will remain in the Trumbull County jail until a bed is made available.
Martin was involved in the burglary of a mobile home in Warren Township.
Police were dispatched Aug. 15 on a call of a burglary in progress at the Warren Mobile Home Park in the 100 block of North River Road NW.
Prosecutors say Martin had called the victim to make certain he wasn't home. Then Martin, joined by others, forced entry into the home stealing items that included a crossbow, BB guns, three other bows, speakers and tools.
A neighbor that had witnessed the burglary reported them to Warren Township police who investigated the matter, catching all four of the perpetrators at the mobile home park with the stolen items.
Martin's co-defendants include, Shawn Bailey, 31, of North River Road NW; Kalyn Brown, 35, of Old Oak Drive; and James Serbin, 31, of Kuszmaul Avenue NW, are all charged with single counts of third-degree felony burglary.
Bailey pleaded not guilty during a hearing in Judge Sean J. O'Brien's courtroom in mid-October and has since been out on a $5,000 bond, according to court records. His next court appearance will be Jan. 10.
Brown pleaded not guilty during a Nov. 28 arraignment in the courtroom of Judge Andrew D. Logan. She's out of the county jail on a $5,000 pretrial release bond, court records say her next court hearing will be January 16, 2024.
Serbin accepted a plea agreement in late-October, which had him plead guilty to the indictment charging him with third degree burglary. He will be sentenced by Judge Sean J. O'Brien on Dec. 20.
