WHAT: Board of Education meeting Thursday

PRESENT: Terry Kelly, Megan Gibbs, Betsy Dunn, Steve Gilanyi and Cory Freeman

The board:

• Approved continuing to pay board members $80 per meeting. Some districts are paying members $120 per meeting.

• Set the organizational meeting for 6 p.m. Jan. 11 at the media center.

• Approved participation in the Ohio Legal Assistance Fund at $250 for the school board to attain favorable judicial decisions.

• Heard from Superintendent Rocco Nero the board will look at projects for the summer starting in the spring.

• Approved Rebecca Bucco as a substitute nurse at $18 per hour.

• Will work with the Western Reserve Educational Service Center for interim treasurer services starting in 2024. Paul Pestello has been serving as treasurer since Joel Snider left earlier this year.

• Approved pay for after-school programs for elementary and middle school students with program coordinator at $50 per hour, teacher at $45 per hour, cafeteria worker at $25 per hour, interventionist at $50 per hour and bus driver at $25 per hour. The program will be Monday to Thursday after school starting in January and be paid by American Rescue Plan ESSER funds. The program focuses on student learning loss.
