WARREN -- A Warren man charged with damaging the Trumbull County Courthouse was told Thursday his plea agreement wouldn't be accepted until a plan for restitution was worked out.
Christopher Gembicki, 37, pleaded guilty to fifth-degree felony vandalism for breaking four first-floor windows on the probate court wing of the courthouse this past October.
Gembicki could face prison time between 6 to 12 months but a sentencing before Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Ronald Rice will come after a background check is conducted.
Gembicki is responsible for $3,490 in restitution costs.
The surveillance footage depicted Gembicki wearing a dark-colored hoodie with the hood up as he approached the East side of the building.
Several times throughout the video, Gembicki is seen throwing rocks at the building before walking away. He turned himself into the Warren Police Department shortly after.
Since the early October incident the courthouse windows have been replaced.
A similar courthouse vandalism incident occurred in November 2021. Joanna McCane, 44, of Youngstown, was sentenced to five years and forced to pay $5,000 in restitution after breaking about 12 windows of the court house using a rock.
