LIBERTY -- Trustee Devon Stanley won comfortably in Tuesday's five-person race, securing 36% of the vote.
Former trustee Jason Rubin provided Stanley's greatest challenge capturing 28% of the vote, according to unofficial totals from the Trumbull County Board of Elections. Next was Libby Benson with 16%, Chris Colon with 12% and Kisharra Blackwell with 8%.
"It looked pretty close to me the last time I checked," Stanley said earlier in the evening as he lead the race. "I can tell from being on the campaign trail that everybody worked hard. I hope that I continue to do well through the remainder of the night."
Heading into the election, all responding candidates in the race addressed similar concerns over zoning enforcement in the township.
Stanley, however, somewhat differed in opinion, as he explained "enforcement is not the problem," at a recent Liberty Local School District's Meet the Candidates Night.
"Everything is a process, and I know that the department receives positive feedback, at least from where I'm at," Stanley said. "I have no problem working on enforcement. But I just try to stay positive, because that's what Liberty needs."
Rubin said with four people running against Stanley, his former colleague, the township residents must not be happy with him.
However, the voters gave Stanley their stamp of approval Tuesday.
