SOUTHINGTON -- A Sharpsville, Pa., man's bond was revoked following his alleged role in a deadly Southington crash Nov. 17 at the intersection of U.S. Route 422 and state Route 305.
Joseph Yuran, 55, was arraigned before Newton Falls Municipal Judge Philip Vigorito on Tuesday. The judge labeled Yuran a "substantial risk to the community" before revoking his bond until his Dec. 7 preliminary hearing.
Yuran faces charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, OVI and failure to stop at a stop sign in a fatal traffic crash that claimed the life of Tyler Richmond.
The 23-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, the patrol report states. Yuran's blood-alcohol content was recorded as .196, above the legal limit of .08 for drunken driving in Ohio.
The crash report states a red 2016 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Richmond of Warren, was heading south on Route 422 before 11 p.m. when it was struck by a 2016 Dodge Ram pickup truck, driven by Yuran and heading west on Route 305.
The patrol report states Yuran did not yield at the stop sign on Route 305. Yuran was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Body camera footage from Ohio State Highway Patrol shows Yuran admitting to troopers he had been drinking that night as he was heading from Warren to Hermitage, Pa., at the time of the crash, a police report states. Sitting in the back of an emergency vehicle, Yuran couldn't remember how much he drank, but he told the trooper it was "too much."
He told troopers he didn't feel buzzed or intoxicated but admitted he shouldn't have been driving.
The witnesses on scene indicated that Yuran had initiated the crash.
