Gunshot ‘missed’ victim in shooting
HUBBARD — A Hubbard man remains jailed facing felonious assault charges stemming from a weekend incident involving gunfire.
James Craft, 63, of Hubbard, appeared in Girard Municipal Court this week to face charges of felonious assault and having weapons under disability.
He is accused in an incident that first was reported as a shooting. However, police now say the victim was not hit with a bullet from a firearm that was discharged Nov. 11 at 543 Center St.
Hubbard police Sgt. Michael Banic said police first were called to the address “for somebody with a gunshot wound to the head and that person was transported to the hospital.”
Banic, who spoke to the victim at the hospital, said instead he had “sustained injuries from the altercation but was not hit with the bullet from the firerarm.”
He said the suspect in the shooting had “missed.”
The victim has not been identified.
According to a news release from the police, the victim was discharged from the hospital.
Craft has not entered a plea and is being held in Trumbull County jail.
