BROOKFIELD -- A 2.3-mill, five-year levy that would have provided funding for permanent improvements at Brookfield School District, was defeated in Tuesday's election.
Still, Superintendent Toby Gibson said he and the board will keep moving forward.
"We're going to reevaluate where we're at and (decide) whether or not we're going to put the levy on in the spring," he said.
Unofficial results from the Trumbull County Board of Elections show the levy failed 62.3% to 37.6%.
In October, school district Treasurer Jordan Weber said it appeared most Brookfield residents supported the levy.
Gibson said he wasn't sure why the levy failed.
"I would assume it's maybe cost of living (and) those kinds of things behind it," he said.
The levy would have cost the owner of a $100,000 home $81 per year. It would have generated $337,000 per year.
