BROOKFIELD -- The Brookfield Board of Education announced Wednesday the fifth annual Winterfest Craft Show will be Saturday at Brookfield High School. The event will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the school gymnasium.
It will include various activities, according to Brookfield Superintendant Toby Gibson.
"It's just a nice experience," Gibson said. "People can enter through the high school and there's painting. They did a sip and paint with some hot chocolate in the past. There's a lot of activities for (everyone)."
Gibson said they also will have breakfast with Santa from 10 a.m. to noon.
He said that although there's lots to do, the event is centered around the craft show.
"People from all over come to see the vendors and make purchases," he said. "There's between 60 to 80 vendors so it's (the crafts) a little bit of everything."
In other action, board members:
• Discussed the newly purchased vending machine that dispenses books instead of food and drinks.
• Approved motion for two transfers of funds from the general fund, both for $180,000.
• Approved motion to accept a Distance Learning and Telemarketing Grant Agreement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Utilities Service.
• Approved lane change of career-based intervention teacher Joseph Meyer, who will now earn $64,856 upon recieving a master's degree.
• Approved a one-year limited contract for Jessica Ploskodniak as an intervention specialist for $43,353.
• Approved a one-year limited contract for Jocelyn Palmer as a Brookfield Elementary Educational Aide for $15 per hour.
• Approved a pay increase for longterm certified substitutes Angela Sharp and Alexander Clark for $210 per day.
• Approved a 2023-24 supplemental contract for Keith Joseph as an assistant atheletic director for $3,891.
• Approved the 2023-24 supplemental contracts for Kari Filipovich for the English Festival for $694, as an environmental club adviser for $520 and a spelling bee adviser for $694.
• Approved the 2023-24 supplemental contracts for Julia Burns as an assistant basketball coach for the girls team for $3,121 and for Royce Satchell and Jordan Harbison as volunteer assistant basketball coaches for the girls team.
