WARREN — A Bristol man convicted of multiple sex charges involving a 5-year-old was sentenced to life in prison with his first possibility of parole in 20 years as part of a plea agreement approved by Judge Sean O’Brien on Monday afternoon in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
Addison Fasula, 37, pleaded guilty to 11 counts in an amended indictment, including one count of attempted rape, three counts of gross sexual imposition, three counts of illegal use of a minor in sexually oriented material or performance and four counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor.
The offenses occurred from June 2022 through August 2023, according to prosecutors.
The mother of the victim described the last three months since charges against Fasula became known as being “an utter living hell.
“He deserves to go to prison,” she said.
With this sentence, the victim’s family will be able to begin the long process of healing, she noted.
Speaking for the victim’s grandmother, the spokeswoman said the family will forget Fasula.
“It’ll be like you never existed,” she said.
O’Brien described what Fasula did to the child as incomprehensible.
“This warrants a long sentence,” O’Brien said. “The court is going along with this because it is a 20-years-to-life sentence. The defendant’s history of criminal conduct demonstrates that consecutive sentences are necessary to protect the public.”
Fasula has had previous sex offense convictions in Lake County. He was convicted in 2016 on two counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor and one count of failure to notify change of address as a sex offender and sentenced to 11 months in prison.
He was labeled as a Tier 1 sexual offender in 2013 after being convicted of voyeurism, according to Lake County records. He was sentenced to 11 months in Noble Correctional facility in Ashtabula County.
Trumbull County Assistant Prosecutor Gabriel Wildman was pleased the court was able to obtain a plea agreement.
“It’s a good day anytime we prevent a young victim of sexual crimes from having to come in to testify at trial,” he said. “Mr. Fasula will not be free to threaten society for a very long time.”
Fasula will now be labeled as a Tier 3 sex offender, meaning if he is ever released from prison, he will have to report his address to the local sheriff every 90 days and will not be allowed to live closer than 1,000 feet near any school or church.
