WARREN -- The nephew of a slain 37-year-old that attacked the man's killer in a common pleas courtroom appeared in that same courtroom again on Thursday.
Only a day after 18-year-old Gavin Roberts was tried for the killing of his uncle, Destin Gregory, 32, appeared to face repercussions for assaulting the now convicted murderer during his trial.
Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Cynthia W. Rice sympathized with Gregory, expressing her condolences for him and his family for the loss of Brice Hilton. Members of the family were present in the courtroom during the short hearing, watching from the gallery.
The judge firmly reminded Gregory that his actions were not acceptable in her courtroom and illustrated the severity of what his actions could've caused in the seeking of justice for his uncle.
Rice said, "I had a juror, that's 89-years-old, that was so shaken up she couldn't continue as a juror. Had anyone else gotten dropped from the jury we would've had to call a mistrial."
Instead, the trial continued, and on Wednesday Roberts was found guilty of aggravated murder and aggravated robbery, which will send him to prison for at least 23 years of his life.
To conclude the brief hearing, Rice told Gregory she would sign the release from his two-day sentence in Trumbull County jail and he will have to pay a $200 fine.
