WHAT: Township trustees September meeting
PRESENT: Bruce Bancroft, Jamin Banning and Greg Leonhard
Trustees:
• Approved transferring $53,962, which was the proceeds of the sale of the old police garage, from the capital project police garage fund to the general fund. Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Andrew Logan granted permission for the transfer of the funds.
• Accepted the local government fund distribution for 2024 of $25,066.
• Received information from the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation about creating a drug-free workplace program.
• Reported there is nothing new regarding the pedestrian crossing near Action Physical Therapy. Officials said Action needs to contact the Ohio Department of Transportation for placing pedestrian crossing signs near the property.
• Approved contacting Ohio Edison about an additional streetlight in the Kinsman Lakelands development between the street addresses of 6825 Golf Drive and 6852 Golf Drive. The residents of these addresses understand that a special tax assessment will be charged for the streetlight.
• Heard from Bancroft that the old police garage was cleaned out. Several bicycles will be taken to the bike shop in Greenville and some old tires might fit the department's Crown Victoria.
• Set trick or treat 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31.
• Reported that Road Superintendent Tim Tricker will be retiring. Officials said Vince Peterson has an interest in the superintendent position. Trustees said they will be looking for a full-time roadworker after Peterson moves to superintendent.
• Appointed Rochelle Jackson as police secretary to replace Megan Garcia, who is leaving.
• Reported that Morford East Road will get a scratch coat and Kinsman Pymatuning Road will be cold patched with work to be done by Martuccio. Officials said they will notify the Lakelands residents.
• Heard from Leonhard that officials have not heard back from the county engineer's office regarding the speed limit reduction on Kinsman Pymatuning Road. Residents asked if the speed limit could be reduced to 45 mph.
• Heard from residents of seeking grants for pickle ball equipment and possibly an indoor recreation building.
• Went into an executive session regarding finding a full-time police chief. Bancroft said a selection will be made this month with the next meeting set for 6 p.m. Monday.
