WARREN -- A $3,000 reconstruction expert has been hired for the defense of a Warren woman who is accused of striking another woman -- who later died from injuries -- with her vehicle.
Kenyana Pennock, 37, appeared beside attorney David Engler during a pretrial hearing Tuesday. She faces charges of murder, reckless homicide and felonious assault.
Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Andrew D. Logan denied a motion requesting the expert be paid for by the state for use during a potential jury trial.
Pennock is set to face trial Dec. 11.
Pennock is accused of running over 36-year-old Jesaree Harris on Nov. 6, 2022. Six days after the initial incident, Harris died and Pennock later surrendered to Trumbull County authorities.
Last November, Warren police Capt. Robert Massucci and Assistant Law Director Traci Timko said details of the crash, which occurred at Drexel Avenue and Parkman Road NW, were unclear, including whether Harris jumped onto the vehicle or was struck by the vehicle.
Harris had fallen off the car, causing a brain injury that led to her death, police said.
