WARREN - The following cases were heard Monday by Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Cynthia W. Rice:

• Cristian Tomlin, 25, East Main Street, Girard, received basic probation for his conviction on assault, a fourth-degree felony and harassment by an inmate with bodily substance, a fifth-degree felony.

The charges are related to a March 11 incident in which Tomlin spit in the face of and attempted to head-butt a Girard police officer after becoming unruly during an arrest for an active warrant.

• Teyona Turner, 18, of Tyrell Avenue, Youngstown, faces 6 to 12 months in prison after pleading guilty to a charge of fifth-degree felony theft. Turner, a former cashier at the Liberty Township Walmart, was accused of stealing about $4,000 out of the cash registers.

The prosecution added that her crimes also see her accused of skip scanning and scanning gift cards improperly.

Turner was ordered by Rice to pay restitution to the store. A sentencing date will be set after Turner undergoes a background report conducted by the Trumbull County Probation Department.

• Joseph L. Hornbuckle Jr., 38, of Elrouth Court, Girard, pleaded guilty to a fifth-degree possession of fentanyl-related compound and misdemeanor OVI charges.

On Nov. 27, 2022, Liberty police officers found Hornbuckle passed out at the wheel of a Ford Taurus at the intersection of Staunton Road and Ravine Drive. A bundle containing a small amount of fentanyl was found on the front seat of the vehicle.

Hornbuckle's OVI charge has a mandatory jail term for the offense. Prior to sentencing he will undergo a background investigation conducted by probation officers.
