It is hard to believe that school is back in session and fall is fast approaching. Before long, farmers will be starting harvest.
In the meantime, for us in Trumbull County, September is always the perfect time for our annual Farm Bureau meeting. This meeting provides the opportunity for Farm Bureau members and nonmembers alike to get together to discuss the past year's happenings with the organization, as well as to look ahead on what the year has to bring.
This year's annual meeting will be held at Hartford Hill Winery, on September 13 with the social beginning at 6 p.m. Dinner will be catered by Hartford Hill. The cost of the meeting is $20 for Farm Bureau members, $30 for non-members and $10 for children ages 6-12. This year's guest speaker will be Martha Yoder, Trumbull County Auditor. During this time, an update will be provided on CAUV soil value changes to croplands and woodlands.
Not only will dinner and a guest speaker be part of this meeting, but proposed code changes regarding trustees and nominations also will take place. Scholarship winners also will be announced as well as special award recipients. A basket raffle benefiting the scholarship fund also will be done. What better way to support the farming organization while enjoying a night out?
For those unfamiliar with Farm Bureau, we are a grassroots organization where your voice and opinion are heard. Your vote at this meeting establishes policies affecting agriculture, our local communities and elects members for the board and delegates for the state annual meeting in 2024. Although this is a local event, it sets the stage for what happens at the state and national levels.
As a Farm Bureau member who serves on the board of trustees, I hope that you highly consider attending our event this year to see what all we do throughout the year, and what we have planned to do in the year to come. If you currently are a member, this is a great way to utilize your membership and see what all we are doing for YOU. If you are not a member, I feel that this meeting would be a wonderful opportunity to who exactly we are and may help you decide to become a member of this great organization.
