WARREN -- A second suspect has been arrested in the March shooting death of a woman at the Hampshire House apartments.
Desemen Douglas Jr., 24, of Warren, was booked into the Trumbull County jail Friday afternoon on a charge of murder after a warrant was filed earlier in the day.
Douglas was arrested after a traffic stop by the Warren Police Department's street crimes unit, according to a police report.
He is charged in the March 26 shooting death of Ruby Sanchez, 43, inside her apartment on Fifth Street SW, where police responded to a call about gunshots just before 1 a.m. A bullet hole was found in one of her windows and she later died at Trumbull Regional Medical Center, according to a previous police report. Another tenant also reported a bullet went through her window.
In August, Warren police charged Jamarr Jenkins, 20, of Kenmore Avenue SE, on a murder charge in Sanchez's death. He is being held at the Trumbull County jail on a $100,000 bond after his case was bound over to Trumbull County Common Pleas Court. He has not been indicted by a grand jury, court records show.
That charge came several days after Jenkins was arrested July 28 on a warrant related to child endangering after a 2-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to his hand on the same day as Sanchez's shooting.
A woman, Ke'vonna Marion, 23, of Martin Street, also was charged with child endangering in that incident. She was indicted on the charge in June and is set for a pretrial Oct. 18 before Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Sean O'Brien, court records show. She is free on bond while awaiting trial.
