WHAT: Village council meeting Tuesday

Council:
• Heard from attorney Leo Puhalla, representing the Antonine Sisters, about working with the village's board of public affairs to install a waterline in North Jackson while receiving water from the village. Puhalla said a memorandum of understanding between Mahoning County and the village is being worked on to move forward with the project, which has received a permit from Ohio Environmental Protection Agency;
• Heard from police Chief Brent Milhoan that a Chevrolet Impala police vehicle no longer needed was sold for $2,750.
There are plans to sell a 2008 Chevy Tahoe previously driven by the school resource officer;
• Heard from road Supervisor Ron Hickox that a traffic signal on Hallock Young Road between the east Ohio Turnpike entrance and Foxconn was damaged. He said a settlement was reached with the person responsible to cover costs for replacing it;
• Heard from resident Danielle Watson, who asked about residents seeking natural gas. She said she spoke with Dominion Energy on available grants to help with a gas line project. '
Watson said she also spoke to state officials on funding for finishing sewer projects;
• Heard from village Engineer Chris Kogelnik that the village has been seeking grants for water and sewer projects. Officials said the village did receive $1.5 million for a water tank;
• Gave first reading to update a section on unlicensed motor vehicles in the codified ordinances. Attorney Matt Ries said the updates are to make sure the definitions and penalities are clear. Police enforce citations of unlicensed vehicles;
• Announced a candidate night will be 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 4 at the village administration building;
• Announced a community picnic will be 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 7 at the park.
