What: Board of education special meeting Wednesday
Present: Tony Perrone, Mary Ann McMahon, Kimberly Barrell, Christopher Chieffo and Michele Lamb.
The board:
• Approved a memorandum of understanding between the district and the Niles Education Association, raising the minimum teacher salary for those with a bachelor's degree, BA-0, to $35,000, as per requirements set forth in the amended substitute Ohio House Bill 33;
• Approved the transfer of Tiffany Wheeler from assistant cook, three hours per day at Niles Middle School, to assistant cook, five hours per day at Niles Intermediate School;
• Hired Rach Mishko as a preschool attendant / educational assistant at Niles Primary School at step 1 of the salary schedule, effective Aug. 28;
• Hired Brandon Zachary as a bus driver at step 4 of the salary schedule, effective Aug. 28;
• Adopted a resolution waiving career-technical education to students enrolled in grades seven and eight for the 2023-24 school year;
• Adopted a resolution declaring transportation impractical for the 2023-24 school year.
