WHAT: Township trustees August meeting
PRESENT: Fred Hanley, Bill Coletta and Rick Hernandez
Trustees:
• Announced zoning administrator Denny Parsons will be retiring effective Aug. 31 after serving more than 20 years;
• Accepted the resignation of police officer William Droste III, effective July 17;
• Approved payment of accrued vacation time for specific police division officers;
• Approved a contract with Absolute Flooring for new flooring in the police department in the amount of $11,087;
• Heard from Hernandez that the Eagle Joint Fire District is seeking a new clerk / fiscal officer;
• Heard from Hernandez about a failure in one of the ambulances that required the fire department to borrow an ambulance from Newton Falls;
• Heard from Colletta the Trumbull County Planning and Zoning coordinator held a meeting in July with the Youngstown Air Reserve Station on the updating of the township's 2017 comprehensive plan. This will include provisions of the air station's federal requirements as it relates to glide path, runway approach, bird strikes and land height;
• Approved creating a five-member comprehensive plan committee to address the concerns of the air station and land use in the township;
• Requested a joint meeting with city officials concerning economic development potential and joint projects;
• Reminded trustees and residents if they want to put information on the new website, contact the fiscal officer;
• Reported legal counsel is reviewing the bid document for the proposed restroom renovation. After review it will go out for bid;
• Heard from Colletta, who suggested hiring an additional full- / part-time employee for the road department and to consider a part-time administrative assistant for the trustees when reviewing the 2024 budget;
• Reported the International tractor, located on Ashler Avenue, donated to the township will be brought to the township building;
• Entered into a contract with Youngstown Fence Co. to repair damaged fence at Cornerhouse Church not to exceed $2,000;
• Approved additional cross overpipes on Hubbard Thomas Road at $19,000.
