WARREN -- Kent State University at Trumbull's military and veteran students will be introduced Monday to the campus's first military and vet resource center.
The university will unveil "At Ease" as a hub for military and veteran students to access vital resources that include learning about the G.I. Bill, receiving campus mental health counseling, community relations and financial aid.
Four on campus are credited for the center's conception:
• Lori-Singer-Bare, an instructor who served 13 years in the Army as a military police officer, drill, platoon and operations sergeant.
• Maribeth Eckenrode, a financial aid representative and military spouse.
• Barb Ozimek, a counseling specialist and adjunct faculty member who has helped the veteran community find mental health services and has several family members serving in the armed forces.
• Karen Ronga, director of the Gelbke Library on campus.
"We wanted to create a space for our military and veteran students," Singer-Bare said. "We are so grateful to our military and veteran students, staff and faculty. This is another way we can thank and honor those who are serving or have served this great nation."
