WARREN -- A Trumbull County grand jury has returned 29 indictments including two sealed cases. Among the indictments is a man suspected of setting fire to a Market Street, Girard, home earlier this year.
Austin M. Dunmire, 26, of Dearborn Street, Youngstown, now faces two counts of first-degree felony aggravated arson and one count of second-degree felony aggravated arson.
He will be arraigned Aug. 30 in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court before Judge Sean J. O'Brien.
Dunmire was arrested after an investigation by the Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office in late June. When he appeared in Girard Municipal Court the following day his bond was set at $250,000.
On June 21, the Girard Fire Department was called to a structure fire -- the report indicates that fire crews were quick to extinguish a bulk of the fire from exterior before making their way inside. Crews pulled at least one cat from the residence.
Speaking with people that live in the home, they told investigators that Dunmire had prior altercations with a woman at the residence. Just before the fire, they said she had spoken on the phone with Dunmire when he threatened to "light their house on fire."
The occupants told investigators they had been asleep when shouting and banging on their door from neighbors awakened them. Outside the home, they saw a piano on their back porch that was set on fire and expanding across the porch and house.
