WARREN -- Calls about shots being fired over the weekend kept Warren police busy.
Into early Friday, police investigated reports of shots fired after neighbors said a group of juveniles appeared to be shooting at each other in the area of Summit Street NW.
Multiple callers reported the shots being fired, with one witness telling police that three youths possibly were involved. One of the juveniles was wearing a white hoodie, and another had no shirt on, according to a police report.
Police were told a neighbor with a gun chased the kids out of the area.
Another witness said two people ran from behind their Summit Street home toward the Tod Avenue intersection, but they were not apprehended by police.
In the same area of Summit Street, police recovered five shell casings and one live round, the report states.
A witness told police two white vehicles were chasing each other before people got out and started shooting.
Another caller said her home may have been struck. That woman informed law enforcement that her daughter had been dropped off by five juveniles.
That vehicle was stopped by another officer. Inside, police said, two of the juveniles were alleged to have been involved in a separate shooting on Mason Street. No arrests were made.
About 10:35 a.m. Friday, police also spoke to a 76-year-old Warren man who told officers he found bullet holes on the east side of his home in the 900 block of Summit. It's not known if this is tied to the reports of juveniles shooting in the area.
SATURDAY SHOTS
Saturday afternoon, police responded to the area of Oak Circle and Oak Street SW after officers received multiple calls about shots fired in the neighborhood.
A police report states that about 4:30 a.m., neighbors reported an argument started at a large party, where a witness told police one man left the party threatening to "start shooting."
That's when the report states a blue truck and a dark-colored van began to fire rounds at the intersection of Oak Circle and Oak Street.
One of the vehicles, the witness told police, traveled west on Oak and fired an estimated "20 rounds."
Police investigating found about 21 shell casings between Oak Circle and Oak Street. Additional casings were collected by police at Oak Street and West Park Drive SW.
The report states a home at the corner of Willow Drive and Hemlock, where one of the vehicles matching the description was parked, was being watched.
Residents of the home began questioning police about why they had been watching the home. Police informed them they were investigating a crime in the area that involved a truck matching the description of one on their property, the report stated.
A red vehicle left the home as police followed and eventually pulled over a man, the report states. They briefly confiscated the man's firearm to compare with the casings found at the shooting site, but the results were negative, the report stated.
Police said the man told them he knew the shooting occurred and where, but when asked whether he knew who was shooting the man refused to provide information, the report stated. He was released and no arrests were made.
