WEATHERSFIELD -- A Sunday morning apartment fire in Weathersfield is being investigated as suspicious by the State Fire Marshal's Office, according to Weathersfield fire Chief Tom Lambert.
The fire was reported at the Forest Ridge apartment complex around 1 a.m. Sunday. Lambert said it was a two-room fire that burned through the apartment living room and kitchen. He said no injuries occurred.
"Somebody was in the process of moving out, it looked like, when the fire happened," Lambert said.
He said moderate damage was done to the structure and one of the neighboring apartments had smoke and water damage.
Lambert said his crew got assistance from the Austintown Fire Department and firefighters were at the building for about three hours before turning the scene over to the fire marshal.
State Fire Marshal spokesman Andy Ellinger said the fire remains an open case with the Marshal's Fire and Explosion Investigation Bureau. Ellinger said no cause of the fire has yet been determined.
