KINSMAN -- The Trumbull County Sheriff's Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol and Pennsylvania State Police were in the Kinsman area Sunday evening looking for a shooting suspect from Pennsylvania, according to the Mercer post of the PSP.
Trustee Greg Leonhard said he was not informed of what happened, but noticed a helicopter flying over part of the township for 30 minutes around 6 p.m., mainly in the area of the center. He said he was aware of law enforcement near the township center and some roads near the center had been blocked off.
Residents who live near the center reported that Main Street had been closed to traffic for a short time, but was later reopened.
Leonhard said he and other residents heard that a shooting suspect from the across the state line may be in the Kinsman area.
A spokesperson with the Pernnsylvania State Police Mercer Barracks said police were looking for someone in Mercer County and the Kinsman area, but no details were being released.
Leonhard and residents said social media sites indicated a man had shot a young child early Sunday in Jamestown, Pa. The person involved was reported to be on the loose.
Resident Susan Kidd said she received calls from friends who live near the center that a large police presence had congregated at the center near Huntington Bank before they left at 6:30 p.m.
She said the roads were blocked off for more than a half hour before being reopened.
Her relative has a business at the center and was not aware of any issues. No further information was released on Sunday.
