Communities to host National Night Out

By Staff report 2 min read

National Night Out is an annual summer event that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.

This year, local communities will be observing National Night Out and giving the public the chance to meet police officers, firefighters and other safety personnel and to see safety vehicles up close.

Organizers of National Night Out say it enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

The event has traditionally been held the first Tuesday in August.

On the day, neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other events with safety demonstrations, youth events, visits from emergency personnel and exhibits.

In Austintown, it's 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Austintown Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road.

Police, fire, ambulance and military vehicles and a STAT MedEvac helicopter will be on site at 5 p.m.

In Liberty, the event will be 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Liberty High School football stadium, off Shady Road.

A parade is at 7 p.m. from Shady Road to the football stadium. There will be a police dog demonstration, drone demonstration, emergency vehicle display, car show, bookmobile, bounce house, raffle baskets, games, music, Animal Welfare League on hand and refreshments.
