WHAT: City council meeting June 19
PRESENT: Bill Williams, Bonnie Viele, Robin Zambrini, Michael Mogg, Cathy Cummings, Jerry Crowe, Michael Kerr and Mayor Ben Kyle

Council:
• Heard from Safety Director Bill Bancroft the city's electric department and the Flock Safety installation crew have installed the license plate reader cameras. He said police officers will be trained on the new technology. Bancroft said a pickup truck stolen from the city over Memorial Day weekend was recovered in Canton because of Flock cameras used in that community;
• Announced that a section of Grandview Avenue will be closed for the next one to two weeks for waterline and valve replacement and other road repair work;
• Heard from Bancroft who advised residents to make sure their vehicle and homes are locked after a man was seen in recent weeks in the city's second ward rummaging through vehicles and taking loose change;
• Heard from Kyle who said he and Hubbard Township officials submitted letters to SCOPE to be able to use them to help run services for seniors at the Hubbard Senior Center. He said there is an effort to get programs at the center in place this summer and fall;
• Announced that Harding Park will be marking 100 years with a celebration being planned in September;
• Set a finance meeting for 6 p.m. July 3 to discuss a school resource officer for Hubbard schools and possibly getting a second officer when the other one is off sick or on vacation;
• Announced an electronic collection will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 8 at the city building parking lot for city and township residents to bring electronic items, which is made possible by a grant from Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District. Kyle said volunteers are needed to help that day with the collection.
