WHAT: City council meeting June 5
PRESENT: Bonnie Viele, Robin Zambrini, Michael Mogg, Cathy Cummings, Michael Kerr, Ryan Hallapy, Jerry Crowe, Bill Williams and Mayor Ben Kyle
Council:
• Approved final reading on joining Cortland, Girard and Niles in seeking Community Housing Improvement Program funds. Kyle said Hubbard's share is to be $250,000 which will made available to residents for home renovations. There will be guidelines for the program for eligible residents to secure funds;
• Approved seeking Ohio Public Works Commission assistance funds for the Grandview Avenue repair project and improvements. Kyle said an area of the road has been sinking because of a road slip that occured and a water break. A culvert also needs replaced;
• Will host a finance and safety committee meeting at 6 p.m. July 3 before the next meeting to discuss the possibility of a second school resource officer;
• Were informed pickleball court equipment has been ordered at $823. Cummings said officials plan to contract with Wally Angelo to install the posts for the courts;
• Announced the annual brush and branches pickup will begin June 26 at curbside. Items need to be placed at the curb by June 26 as the entire city will only be run through once. The collection will be through July 7. Officials said that anyone who misses the collection date can put any brush and branches in their standard waste bins.
