WARREN -- A 13-year-old's birthday party ended with about 15 squad cars from various law enforcement agencies in the area responding to a group fight in Warren on Saturday.

Initial dispatch calls reported, "100 to 150" people in the parking lot and surrounding area of a Subway on Parkman Road NW at Drexel Avenue at 10:46 p.m.

Warren Safety Service Director Eddie Colbert also was on scene and called for additional units to come to the area.

When officers arrived, they observed two men arguing among a group of people. Both men were detained to de-escalate the ongoing conflict.

A female juvenile was detained after being accused of breaking a glass bottle in the parking lot. The report states she told officers she threw the bottle to break up the fighting.

Darius Carr, 32, was given a summons on a charge of obstructing official business while the juveniles eventually were released. The report states police will speak with a juvenile prosecutor about the potential for charges.

Police from Warren, Howland, Champion, Cortland, Lordstown, Warren Township and the Trumbull County Sheriff's Office all responded. No injuries were reported as a result of the fight.

The incident marks another weekend of isolated incidents of melees involving juveniles.

On June 4, police were called to a fight at a plaza near downtown Warren where three people, including two teens, were shot. The incident led to the early closure of the annual Trumbull County African American Achievers Association Festival at Courthouse Square just a few blocks away.

A few hours prior to that, a shooting in the 500 block of Southern Boulevard left a 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. The status of the five shooting victims is unknown.

A request for comment from Colbert on the recent fight was not returned.
