WHAT: Board of Education meeting May 18
PRESENT: Terry Kelly, Steve Gilanyi, Betsy Dunn, Megan Gibbs and Cory Freeman
The board:
• Recognized Sylvia Jackson for serving 48 years as assistant treasurer for the district and Debra Csehill for 26 1/2 years as a teacher. Both are retiring;
• Presented the Award of Excellence to seniors Emily Proverbs for her academic achievements and the Mary Herner Leadership Award to Arwyn Hardy for leadership characteristics in memory of Herner, who was a 28-year board member;
• Recognized athletes James Stull for scoring his 1,000th point in February and 1,027 points total in his high school career in basketball, and Landen Duncan, who qualified for the 2023 Ohio High School state wrestling meet in March, placing second;
• Approved the Community Trust using the Chalker building and grounds Sept. 22 for a fall farmers market.
