WHAT: Township trustees meeting May 9
PRESENT: Mark Webb, Ramon French and Jim Cicchillo
Trustees:
• Approved advertising for quotes to demolish the Bristol Inn, with bids to be due by June 1, and all work will be completed 60 days afterward. A letter was being sent to Wes Mahan, owner of the Bristol Inn;
• Approved placing a new 2-mill, five-year fire levy on the November general election ballot, to be used for equipment for the fire department;
• Hired Erika Kolar as a firefighter-paramedic pending results from drug tests, and hired Travis West at $11 per hour as a part-time road employee;
• Heard from fire Chief Steve Craiger that he received a quote from Hudak Excavating to repair the department's pond liner and catch basin for a cost of $4,800;
• Granted permission for the zoning commission to move forward with adding the Youngstown Air Reserve Station flight path height restrictions to the zoning book, as discussed at the public hearing in April;
• Heard from Webb that he was contacted by a resident on Peck Leach Road regarding the open dumping that is happening. French said he will mention it to the sheriff's office and look into cameras for trails;
• Heard from Webb he received a call from the school district about the barrels on the bridge on Oakfield North. The Trumbull County Engineer's Office is doing a load study on the bridge in the near future, and will get back to officials on the results;
• Hired T & C Fence LLC to install fence around Bowers Cemetery for a cost of $4,145 using American Rescue Plan funds;
• Discussed where the path should be built going to the cemetery. A survey will need to be done soon, officials said;
• Heard from Cicchillo that he received a call from a resident inquiring about having a senior center in the township. He said the township would have to provide heat, electric and a building. Cicchillo said he would look into it if there is interest;
• Announced community garage sales June 2 to 4;
• Announced the new website is up and operating, www.bristoltownship.com;
• Heard from residents who want the sheriff's office to patrol Housel Craft Road more frequently, as there have been problems with speeding.
