WARREN TOWNSHIP -- Township police arrested a 13-year-old boy Friday just hours after threats were made that led to LaBrae Local School District's closure.

According to a police news release, the emailed threat went to Superintendent Anthony J. Calderone, who then contacted authorities and canceled school.

"Out of an abundance of caution and concern for the safety and well-being of our students and staff, LaBrae Local Schools closed today due to a threat received by the district," he said.

With help from Warren police detective Michael Altiere, who is knowledgeable in electronic communications, authorities were able to identify and arrest the juvenile.

Police said the boy is a district student. No other information was issued, including whether he remains in custody.

Calderone praised the police for making a speedy arrest.

"We communicated well with law enforcement," Calderone said. "A lot of effective work was done by them and through investigative measures they were able to come to a resolution."

He said schools will be reopened Monday.
