WARREN -- A Kinsman man on Thursday was given a six-month jail sentence and five years of intense probation supervision for his conviction of multiple child pornography charges.
Kenneth Ruble, 26, of Warner Road, appeared before Judge Ronald J. Rice in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court for sentencing after pleading guilty Jan. 26 to two counts of illegal use of minor in nudity-oriented material or performance and a count of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor.
Rice said the defendant was being given "a chance of the lifetime" and warned him if he violated any terms of his probation he could be facing 24 to 28 years in prison.
Ruble's attorney, Ross Smith, said his client was a candidate for probation because he had no previous criminal record and was addicted to pornography.
"If you violate this probation, you will not like what will happen to you," Rice told Ruble.
According to the indictment filed in October 2022, these incidents occurred during the spring of 2021 and involved digital images of children between the ages of 6 and 11 in states of nudity.
Prosecutors asked for some sort of incarceration for Ruble, and said more than 81 images and videos were found on his cellphone. He told the judge he had been involved on a kiddie porn site for about six months.
Ruble's plea agreement with prosecutors -- that included two counts of illegal use of minor in nudity-oriented material and two counts of pandering being dismissed -- offset a jury trial that had been scheduled for Feb. 21 before Rice.
