The Ohio Fire Academy in Reynoldsburg announced its largest graduating class in its history, consisting of 34 cadets including one from Chardon in Geauga County and another in Rootstown in Portage County.
The class, which graduated in a ceremony Thursday at the academy in Reynoldsburg, included six women who successfully completed the rigorous training program.
"The Ohio Fire Academy's cadet training program is among the most challenging in the nation, requiring cadets to undergo rigorous physical and mental training to prepare them for the demands of firefighting," according to Fire Marshal Office spokesman Andy Ellinger. "The academy's commitment to excellence is evident in the success of its graduates, who are highly sought after by fire departments across the state."
Included among the 34 graduating cadets were Dylan J. Hemly of Chardon and Brandon Zuchowski of Rootstown.
