WARREN -- A Mineral Ridge woman and Campbell man pleaded not guilty in the aggravated robbery of a Warren man at a gas station.
According to court documents, Makayla Wright, 22, and Kurtis Townsend, 23, pleaded not guilty in separate Tuesday arraignments.
A police report states the 22-year-old Warren victim was communicating with the suspects on social media to obtain a gaming system. Pickup of the device at a gas station on Parkman Road NW on Sunday afternoon was arranged.
They eventually met in the parking lot where the victim produced five $20 bills and one $10 bill, the report states.
Townsend, the report states, flashed a gun tucked in his waistband before taking the money and fleeing to a red Toyota with Wright driving.
The victim tried to follow the pair, and stated the gun was short and black with an extended magazine.
Following the pair to a dead end street near 4th Street, Warren police dispatch advised him not to approach the vehicle due to the firearm.
Police caught up to Wright and Townsend at East Market Street near Pine Avenue and stopped them.
During a search, police observed money hanging from the pants pocket of Wright, and Townsend also was found with money on him, the report stated. The amount of money matched the amount the victim said was taken.
Townsend was also cited with driving under suspension but no firearm was recovered, according to the report.
Both were then taken to the Trumbull County jail. Bond for Townsend is set at $50,000 and Wright is out on a surety bond of $25,000. Their next court appearance in Warren Municipal Court is set for April 11.
Multiple safe zones have been designated by police in both Trumbull and Mahoning County for the purpose of safely facilitating e-commerce exchanges in areas monitored by surveillance cameras. This includes a location in front of the court at 141 South St. SE.
