WARREN -- A Warren man was given a 15-month prison sentence Wednesday on a conviction for gun charges.
Bobby Maiden, 46, of Victoria Street, appeared before Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Cynthia Rice to plead guilty to having weapons while under disability and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
The case stemmed from a June 2, 2022, police call in Warren, prosecutors stated, where officers investigated someone, later identified as Maiden, who had overdosed in a car. Found in the vehicle was a .40 caliber Hi-Point handgun. Maiden was forbidden to have firearms because of a 1997 involuntary manslaughter conviction, court records show.
A tearful Maiden told the judge he had just suffered "a great loss in his life and was not coping too well."
Rice gave Maiden credit for time served.
In the 1997 case, Maiden was sentenced by former Judge Peter Kontos to serve five years in prison.
