CORTLAND -- FBI agents on Friday morning executed a search warrant at a home at 137 Winter Laness in the Heritage Heights neighborhood.
A spokeswoman for the FBI office in Cleveland, Susan Licate, confirmed that an operation was being conducted in Cortland. As of late Friday, she couldn't provide more details about what FBI agents were looking for.
The Trumbull County Auditor website lists Stephen A. and Cynthia M. Oravecz as the owners of 137 Winter Lane.
Neighbors reported on social media sounds of flash-bang explosions early in the morning.
In a comment on the Facebook page Everything Cortland, one neighbor said that law enforcement "used a flash bang to get them out of the house," and that it was "pretty intense for us neighbors to watch at 7 a.m."
Another person noted that she and her dog heard a "loud bang" as she was getting ready to leave the house.
David Morris, Cortland's police chief, said local authorities were notified about an hour hefore the operation but did not participate. He said he had no details on what was sought in the search.
