WARREN -- A 29-year-old city man was booked into the Trumbull County jail Monday evening after another man was shot to death in the 100 block of Charles Avenue SE.
Theodore Nolan was arraigned on a charge of murder Tuesday morning before Warren Municipal Judge Terry Ivanchak, according to a police news release.
Nolan, who has an Elm Road NE address, appeared via video hookup from the jail and through his attorney pleaded not guilty. Ivanchak set bond at $500,000 and set another hearing for 1:30 p.m. Monday.
About 5:45 p.m. last Monday, officers were dispatched to the Charles Avenue address on a report of a shooting. The name of the deceased was not released, although a 911 report identified the victim as Bobby Lambert, who was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics at 5:47 p.m. The report states Lambert was shot four or five times and was lying in an upstairs bedroom.
The 911 report states a caller, who identified himself as Nolan, told a dispatcher that he acted because the other man was waving a gun at women and children in the house.
"I shot him four or five times, and I don't know if he is alive," the 911 caller said.
During the 911 call, Nolan was told by a dispatcher to place the firearm on the hood of a truck. Nolan was standing with his hands up in the front yard when police arrived, the report states. Officers arrived by 5:50 p.m. and secured the weapon in a police cruiser.
Detectives conducted interviews. Records show Nolan was booked into the jail at 8:11 p.m.
The body of the victim was transported to the morgue at Trumbull Regional Medical Center, and the coroner's office was contacted by 9:45 p.m., the report states.
An autopsy was to be performed on the victim, with the coroner expected to make a ruling on the death after an autopsy report is completed.
The jail record shows this was Nolan's first booking at the jail, but a Warren police report showed he was picked up on an operating a vehicle while intoxicated charge April 28, 2021, after a traffic stop at Washington Street and North Park Avenue. Court records showed the charge was amended to physical control, and Nolan pleaded guilty June 3, 2021. He was given a three-day jail term, had his driver's license suspended for six months and was placed on two years probation.
