WARREN -- A woman who was caught driving a vehicle that led police on a chase after an April "smash-and-grab" break-in at an Elm Road business on Monday pleaded guilty to an amended charge of attempted failure to comply with a signal of a police officer.
Jennifer L. Gore, 44, of Grant Street, pleaded guilty to the fourth-degree felony in front of visiting Judge Gary Yost in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
Gore initially faced charges of failure to comply, a third-degree felony, and breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony.
On April 25, police noticed a silver Chevrolet speeding out of the AutoZone parking lot on Elm Road shortly after a break-in was reported at the business. AutoZone reported that four $50 sets of tools were taken.
The vehicle lead officers on a pursuit starting on Griswold Street NE near Park Avenue in Warren and continued into the Garrettsville area near state Route 305. The chase reached speeds of 85 mph, a police report states.
Police later that day spotted the vehicle on U.S. Route 422 heading back into Warren. Gore, the driver, and her passenger, Martin Warren Jr., were arrested, the report states.
Gore told police that Warren had asked for a ride and she had no idea what he was going to do at AutoZone. When he got back into the car, he threatened her and told her not to stop for the police, the report states.
Warren in May pleaded guilty to charges of criminal damaging and endangering in Warren Municipal Court and was sentenced to 180 days in jail, with credit for time served, and two years probation.
A Warren Municipal Court case with traffic charges against Gore stemming from the incident was dismissed.
Yost ordered a presentence investigation before Gore is sentenced.
