WARREN -- A city resident already facing about 30 years in prison for an Aug. 2, 2020, shooting death was sentenced to an additional 4 1/2 years in prison Thursday.

Cameron D. Tillis, 36, of Palmyra Road SW, is doing time for the death of Delquan Ware, 24.

Tillis on Thursday was sentenced by Judge Ronald Rice on nonrelated charges of having weapons under disability and possession of cocaine.

He was arrested by Trumbull County sheriff's deputies Aug. 15, 2020, on the current charges.

Tillis was sentenced by Rice to 25 to 30 1/2 years in prison on June 21, after pleading to a reduced involuntary manslaughter charge with firearm specifications and other charges.

Tillis was one of two people charged in the killing of Ware.

Ware was shot while driving a vehicle on Summit Street NW.

His co-defendant, Stefon Alexander, 36, pleaded guilty May 27 to charges of involuntary manslaughter with a firearm specification and tampering with evidence.

Tillis was captured by federal marshals Dec. 3, 2021, at a home in the 2000 block of SW Sunset Boulevard in Renton, Wash., about 15 miles southeast of Seattle. Investigators in late October used information to track Tillis to the Pacific Northwest.

During Thursday's sentencing on the having weapons under disability and cocaine charges, Rice stated that consecutive sentences are necessary to protect the public from future crimes and to punish Tillis and the consecutive sentences are not disproportionate to the danger the offender poses to the public.

The judge also said Tillis' courses of conduct and the harm caused was so great or unusual that no single prison sentence adequately reflects the seriousness of his behavior.
