Autism Society names committee

The Autism Society of Mahoning Valley has announced its new executive committee through its board of directors to further the mission and provide more dedication to the organization’s needs.

These individuals were nominated and elected based on their commitment to the Mahoning Valley and advancing the Autism Society’s national mission: “We create connections, empowering everyone in the Autism community with the resources needed to live fully.”

“We are excited to promote board members to serve on our executive committee; we have amazing professionals serving on our board,” said board chair Aundrea Cika Heschmeyer. “The board has a direct impact on improving programs and resources for Mahoning Valley families affected by autism. This influx of new leadership within the organization will help us plan for the future.”

The following are the newly elected executive committee members:

• Board chair — Cika Heschmeyer of Liberty, owner of Marquee Creatives;

• Vice president — Jodi Glass of Hubbard, recruiting and marketing coordinator for MCCTC Adult Career Center;

• Treasurer — Katie DeGennaro of Howland, president and senior banking adviser for PNC Private Bank;

• Secretary — Meghan Brundege of Mineral Ridge, magistrate at the Youngstown Municipal Court.

The Autism Society Board of Directors plays a crucial role in determining the strategic course of the organization as well as actively working throughout the year on programming and fundraising needs, ensuring that the organization continues to serve the local autism community. Founded in 1989, the role of the Autism Society of the Mahoning Valley is to improve the quality of life for all individuals with autism — across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan by providing broad support, activities, information and referral. Its secondary roles are to act as advocates on their behalf to bring about community change and create opportunities for individuals working through life with this disability.
