NILES -- For the second time within two weeks, the Eastwood Mall became the venue for violence among teenagers.
This time, according to Eastwood Mall spokesman Joe Bell, the scuffle Saturday night involved about eight teen girls.
"Our security officers responded within one minute and separated them," Bell stated via email Monday.
Niles police arrested one 13-year-old girl on a charge of disorderly conduct, the report states.
"As with any incident like this, the participants will be officially banned from the mall property," Bell said.
"Should they return, they will be charged with trespassing."
No injuries were reported in Saturday's fight.
The report stated the call came about 7:54 p.m. about a large group of juveniles fist fighting in the hallway between the JCPenney and Target stores. Another report said the fight occurred in the vicinity of the children's play area in front of the JCPenney entrance.
Five Niles police officers responded to the scene by 8 p.m., the report stated.
Bell said mall management, the Cafaro Corp., does not
tolerate that kind of unruly behavior from any of its
patrons.
On Feb. 13, seven children, ages 12 to 16, were charged with aggravated riot, a fourth-degree felony, after a "large fight" at the mall, according to Niles police.
Niles police responded to the call, but the fight broke up before officers arrived, according to the report.
