After experiencing a recent decline in COVID-19 cases, Ohio exceeded 5,000 in a single day for the first time in nearly a month.
Wednesday, 5,527 COVID-19 cases were reported, according to the Ohio Department of Health.
It's the most cases reported for a single day since Oct. 14, which had 5,648 cases.
The state came close to 5,000 Tuesday when 4,952 cases were reported that day.
The 10,479 total for Tuesday and Wednesday is the most for two days in Ohio since Oct. 13 and 14 with 10,791 COVID-19 cases.
The 5,527 cases reported Wednesday is up from the daily average of 3,720 for the past 21 days, according to the ODH.
The state has seen a decline in cases in recent weeks. At the end of September, the 21-day average was 6,600. It's a little more than half of that now.
There's been 40,471 COVID-19 cases reported during the first 10 days of November. At that pace, 121,413 COVID-19 cases would be recorded this month.
That would be a decline from the 131,355 cases reported in October in Ohio.
There were 193,072 cases reported in September in the state.
September had the fourth-most cases for a month in Ohio during the pandemic while October had the fifth most.
The state had a total of 1,585,798 COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday with 1,486,574 presumed recovered since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
The ODH usually provides death information on Tuesdays and Fridays. There were 25,282 total COVID-19 deaths in the state as of Tuesday.
