A Mahoning County nursing home had three staff cases of COVID-19 and one patient case this week, according to Ohio Department of Health data that appears to have been updated.
The four cases are at Greenbrier Center nursing home in Boardman. No facility on the list had more than four cases this week.
A message left with the facility Thursday asking for verification of the number of cases was not returned.
A Warren facility, meanwhile, has 16 cases, according to state data.
In recent weeks, area long-term care facilities such as nursing homes and assisted-living facilities have complained the COVID-19 data provided by ODH about the number of cases at their facilities has not been accurate.
The problem has been some data on the ODH website has not been updated each week. The data reported this week for Greenbrier, however, appears to be updated from last week, including the cumulative totals of cases.
Two other facilities listed as having four cases had data that was the same as last week, suggesting it may not have been updated and may not be accurate.
Overall, the Mahoning County listings indicate there were 12 patient cases and 38 staff cases of the virus at long-term care facilities this week.
Trumbull County data from ODH indicates one facility saw a significant increase in cases this week compared to last week.
The Washington Square Healthcare Center nursing home in Warren has 11 patient cases and five staff cases of the virus this week. It had only two patient cases and no staff cases last week. Its data, including the facility's cumulative numbers, suggests the data is updated.
The director of nursing said Thursday morning the patient number is correct, but only three staff members still are positive for COVID-19.
A second Trumbull County facility, Community Skilled Healthcare Center nursing home in Warren, has two patient and two staff cases this week. It had no patient cases or staff cases last week and therefore appears to have updated information.
In a phone call to the facility, a staff member said the facility's administrator said he has "no comment at this time."
Overall, the data indicates Trumbull County facilities have 15 patient and 10 staff cases.
It is difficult to tell whether the Columbiana County data is updated, but only two facilities are listed as having any cases. It indicates the total cases for long-term care facilities in the county is four.
Meanwhile, the number of cases of COVID-19 at nursing homes across the state rose significantly this week. There were 539 patient cases across the state last week but 653 this week. There were 531 staff cases last week but 613 this week.
