With 193,072 cases reported in September, the month ranks fourth for total COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.
Only November, December and January rank higher -- the latter just edging September by a 2,340-case margin.
Cases reported Thursday add 6,530 to the new total 1,413,972 cases statewide. Since last week, the state has posted 48,172 cases. Deaths attributed to COVID-19 sits at 21,945. The Ohio Department of Health usually provides death information on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Locally, Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties added 405 new cases with 151 in Mahoning County, 156 in Trumbull County and 98 in Columbiana County.
The totals in each county sit at 28,083 in Mahoning, 20,868 in Trumbull and 12,362 in Columbiana. As reported Tuesday, there were 650 deaths in Mahining County, 520 in Trumbull County and 243 in Columbiana County. Since last week, those deaths are an increase of 11 in both Mahoning and Trumbull counties and two in Columbiana County.
Also since last week, 2,776 cases were reported between the three counties.
In the state, there have been 38 people placed in intensive care units. The total reported ICU admissions sits at 9,491. There was an increase of 300 new hospitalizations, bringing that total up to 73,083.
In Mahoning County, there have been a total of 1,314 hospitalization due to COVID-19 and in the last day, there have been 14 new admissions.
In Trumbull County, there have been 1,446 hospitalizations. In the last 24-hours, two more people were hospitalized.
In Columbiana County, there have been 642 total hospitalizations. The county added seven hospitalizations in the last 24 hours.
VACCINATION EFFORT
In light of the delta variant, 6,938 new people have started the vaccination process throughout the state. The total number of Ohioans who have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccines is 6,308,295, or 53.97 percent. The total number of Ohioans who have completed the vaccination process is 5,856,237, or 50.1 percent.
In Mahoning County, 119,040 residents have received at least one dose. That equates to 52.05 percent of the population in the county. The number of people in Mahoning County who have finished their vaccines is 110,660, or 48.39 percent of the population.
For Trumbull County, 98,662 residents have started the vaccination process, equating to 49.84 percent. The number of Trumbull County residents who have finished their vaccines is 91,110, or 46.02 percent.
In Columbiana County, 43,225 residents have started the vaccination process, equating to 42.43 percent. The number of residents who have completed their vaccines is 40,308, or 39.56 percent.
